Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about building, publishing, and managing your CV with SnapMyCV.
Is SnapMyCV free to use?
Yes. You can create, edit, and download a CV for free, with no credit card required. We offer optional paid features, but building and exporting a professional CV does not cost anything to get started.
Are the templates ATS-friendly?
Our templates are designed with a clear, parseable structure — standard section headings and selectable text — so that applicant tracking systems can read them correctly while still looking polished to a human reader.
How many CV templates are available?
We offer a curated library of editorial templates covering a range of styles, from minimal single-column layouts to more expressive designs. You can browse the full collection on the Templates page and switch templates at any time without losing your content.
Can I publish my CV online with my own link?
Yes. SnapMyCV can host your CV as a public web page on your own subdomain (for example yourname.snapmycv.com), so you can share a single link instead of attaching a file. You stay in control of whether each CV is public or private.
What file formats can I download?
You can export your CV as a PDF, which is the format most employers and applicant tracking systems expect. A public web version is also available if you choose to publish your CV online.
Do I need design skills to make a good CV?
No. The whole point of SnapMyCV is that the layout, spacing, and typography are handled for you. You focus on the content; the template takes care of making it look professional and consistent.
Should I send a CV or a resume?
It depends on the country and role. In the UK, Europe, and much of the world, 'CV' is the standard term for a concise one-to-two-page job document. In the US and Canada, that document is usually called a 'resume', while 'CV' refers to a longer academic record. Our guide on CV vs resume explains this in detail.
How long should my CV be?
For most people, one to two pages. A single page is ideal early in your career, and two pages is appropriate once you have around a decade of relevant experience. Longer documents are generally only expected for academic or research roles.
Is my data private?
Yes. CVs you create are private by default — only published CVs are visible to others, and only when you choose to publish them. You can review exactly what we collect and how we use it in our Privacy Policy.
Can I edit my CV after downloading it?
Yes. Your CV is saved to your account, so you can return at any time, update the content, switch templates, and re-export. There is no need to start over for each new application — tailor and re-download as often as you like.
